Dear PHS Supporters…

I wanted to let you all know as soon as possible about the outcomes of our 14th Annual Codfish Dinner Auction that happened on Saturday, May 3rd.

In short, it was a night for the ages! We had great auction items – thank you to everyone who donated; we had a wonderful Codfish dinner, thanks to Mike Burns donation of Cod, and the chefs at Clearwater; we had a fabulous group of people that had a fun evening; and we are the grateful recipients of many generous donations – including one that truly made it a night to remember!

As many of you know there is a point in the evening where we always ask people to “Raise the Paddle” to make straight cash donations to PHS. Since purchasing the Heritage Museum and Lawn we have always marked 80% of those donations to paying off the mortgage on the property. As always, that money will be allocated to the pay-off – this year it will be approximately $25,000 (after we finalize the audit of the numbers). However, just as I had finished encouraging the audience to, “…make some history”, we were treated to an act of generosity that was unexpected and beyond anything we could have imagined.

Sandi and Jay Dahlquist, whom many of you know, and who are long time residents and great supporters of the Poulsbo community, stepped up and announced that they would not only support “Raise the Paddle” this year, but that they would contribute enough funding to PAY OFF THE BALANCE OF THE MORTGAGE of the Heritage property!

I can tell you that there were cheers, applause, grateful hearts, and more than a few tears in the room. It was truly history in the making!

We will be recognizing the Dahlquist’s amazing gift in the coming months; and we’ll be sharing what that means for PHS as we move forward, but for right now I wanted each of you to know what happened and how very appreciative we are for this act of historical proportions.

Without including this specific gift, the auction will gross over $83,000 when all is said and done. And there are a whole lot of people in the PHS family to thank for that happening. Thank you to everyone – May 2025 has certainly started out as a month to remember!
